[..YouTube..] Two questions: 1. How frequently do you buy snare drums. And, 2. How many people have fainted when you showed them your collection?

  13. [..YouTube..] @SONORSQ2guy I do not, this whole drum is stock right now, heads and wires. If I remember right, there’s bronze wires on it. I’m not that into them. They’re cool, but I definitely prefer the 6mil brass wires from Sonor’s Soundwire sets and, as you said the Puresound Super 30’s are my fav 🙂

  18. [..YouTube..] @AmmosPheonix hahaha I have a collection of comatose bodies of those who’ve dropped upon entering my drum room, never to wake up again! As for buying snares, it’s slowed down a lot, but usually maybe two or three times a year, but when I do it’s usually not just one 😉

[..YouTube..] Can you tell me how the thickness of a shell influences the sound?
Since you’ve got an absolutely insane collection of snares I thought you’d be the guy to ask 😀
Any new snare drum videos coming up? Love it!

  32. [..YouTube..] @Jefyzz Hey bro! K, so the thickness of the shell, to me the thinner the shell the larger your tuning range. When you get a thicker shell you get a limited sweet spot. That’s not to say they won’t sound good all over the map, they’ll just sound “great” in a more limited range. It gives the drum a little more bite the thicker you go and depending on how thick can dry it out a little.

  37. [..YouTube..] @Jefyzz (2) The shells with the reinforcement hoops are cool cause you get the attack of a thick shell with the sonic characteristics of a thinner one.

Also, there are some more snare videos coming up, I had a 13×8.5 60’s beech tom converted into a snare recently, and I’m looking at getting another new snare from a friend in the UK. When that shows up, I’ll video them both. It’s a pain taking off the toms and mics etc, so I don’t want to just do one 🙂
