  1. [..YouTube..] is that an EC reverse dot? Ive never tried that, I love keeping the higher frequencies of metal snares.

  2. [..YouTube..] all those nice drumpartz …in my opinion piccolo snares rule ,i gave away my standard.all your fine cymbals ,isn`t what you need a freaky sick 8-stringtangad bassguitarist or an Elefant on LSD?

  5. [..YouTube..] I now know why Danny Carey has such fat floor tom sounds. Its Sonor…. I could never figure that out, but every time I watch your video and the groove between the snare with the wires off and the floor tom I keep wondering why it sounds so familiar tonally. Now I know.

  7. [..YouTube..] What??? The 14×8 SQ2 Heavy Maple and X Ray were my favorites until I heard this snare. I’ve decided after this series is finished, I’m going to buy a new Sonor snare. I’ll pick one that I like that Aaron plays and buy it. So far, I like this snare the best!!
Are your Overheads panned hard left and right?

  12. [..YouTube..] @pakiw2 you should probably get better speakers… i can hear them fine. and also lots of people mix their drums that way that the accents are a little louder and the ghostnotes are a little quieter than normally.

  36. [..YouTube..] @datommaster Didn’t know that fact, but I know Jeff and unfortunately for him. They’ve stopped producing his tree bronze snares for as far as I know (the sites down). The dude kept trying to get me to buy one and I had to keep telling him “Jeff where do you want me to get the $1,200 when I’m broke and in college?” (I’m 22) And he also made a lot of weird knowledge claims, like “I Know Everything about EVERY drummer” Also I was talking about live, Danny uses 2 Sonor floor toms (usually)

  44. [..YouTube..] @c0d3x001 To be clear on that I don’t edit anything dynamically when I mix. I play with a wide dynamic range naturally, ghost notes super quiet and accents really loud with everything in between.

  48. [..YouTube..] @pakiw2 Maybe the issue is to you, my ghost notes are too quiet. I have my overheads mixed around -6 relative to the rest of the kit and the cymbals are all really dark. They’re not necessarily meant to cut, rather blend.

Either way, it’s cool if you don’t like Hammerax. They’re unique and definitely not for everyone 🙂 Hell, if we all liked the same crap everything would sound the same and be boring. Like pop music lmao

Thanks for the comments and opinions!

  51. [..YouTube..] @pakiw2 @c0d3x001 Also, I’m terrible at mixing and put literally no effort into it, it’s most likely 100% my fault anyway! I’ll be the first to admit I’m far from perfect.
