[..YouTube..] This snare sounds good too, considering it’s in the lower line. Do you use a recording technique called Parallel Compression on these video’s?

  3. [..YouTube..] Your setup’s almost a little reminiscent of Mangini’s.

  4. [..YouTube..] yeah bro rim shots!

  6. [..YouTube..] is it true if you tighten your snare alot then youll get more bounce/ single handed rolls? cause when i try to do those lil rolls like at 0:49 i just cant get my sticks to bounce like that

[..YouTube..] @cahslundglass I think this setup is more for the pimp project so the snare isn’t obscured by rack toms. Please correct me if I’m wrong Aaron!

  10. [..YouTube..] @theskateboardt619 Yeeeah rim shots! 😛

As for the press roll or buzz I did there, the most important factor is the amount of pressure in your fingers. When the note starts you’re squeezing a little harder to make then stick bounce super fast, but as the note decays you loosen your grip. If you keep it tight it’ll stop way sooner. So over the course of the second or less that you have your buzz you start tight and loosen.

    …Maybe I’ll do a video on that!

  13. [..YouTube..] @theskateboardt619 But also, if your head is tuned super low, it’s much harder to do those and have them sound nice.

  19. [..YouTube..] @SONORSQ2guy Hey man, thanks! And negative, for these videos the only compression I use is on the master bus, it’s a logic mastering preset for volume really. I try and keep most of the stuff as natural as possible with the major exception being the gong drum which is definitely an EQ / Compression thing

  22. [..YouTube..] @aaronedgardrum oh and gating. The one thing that I generally do is subtractive EQ. I’ll EQ out frequencies that have nothing to do with the sound source. On each instrument alone it doesn’t sound like much of a difference, but on a full drum mix it cleans it up a lot

  25. [..YouTube..] @Mp5Drummer You’re exactly right! I’ve been recording like six videos at a time trying to get them all done cause I miss having six toms and a mountain of cymbals 😛

  31. [..YouTube..] @SabianTamaDrummer I totally agree! 90% of my gigs I play with three drums and one cymbal. 🙂 Maybe it’s just cause I have a massive man-crush on ?uestlove. Maybe I’m lazy. But either way, I totally agree and that’s exactly what it does man! 🙂

[..YouTube..] without the snare wires it sounds amazing… im not much of a fan of snare sounds like the first sound with the wires on but the second tuning is pretty cool… though i prefer the sound to be even a little tighter so that you don’t hear the individual wires but more like ONE tight crack 😀 great video though… very enjoyable. also your grooves and fills are just Beast 😀

  36. [..YouTube..] @c0d3x001 Sweeet, thanks man! 🙂 There’s SO many options you can make snares sound like. It’s tough to find which ones I wanna stick into the roughly 90 seconds I’ve been giving each one 😛

  39. [..YouTube..] Hey there Aaron, I’m obviously a fan because I comment on most of your videos haha. I have a question, a friend of mine offered to trade his 6 piece delite kit for my 4 piece starclassic bubinga elite kit. My question is, do you own any delite kits, if so, would you think that Sonor’s maple is a good comparison to Bubinga kits?

  41. [..YouTube..] @ShittyMcPoopyBalls Shitty McPoop!! Dude… I’m ALL over that deal. I’d 100% advise the Delite. They’re AMAZING. Opposite the kit in this video I have a Delite with five toms just on the other side of the room 😉 My first Sonor kit was a Delite. It’s what started my massive obsession. I have something you need to read :

Go to my site and in the search bar look for “Why I Play Sonor Drums” I have an article on it. All of this of course is personal preference.

  44. [..YouTube..] @ShittyMcPoopyBalls But I have played the Bubingas as backline many times. They’re great kits, but personally, I’d pick the delite over it 100% of the time without hesitation.

  47. [..YouTube..] @aaronedgardrum Wow, thanks for the quick reply dude. Yeah, my first kit was a Sonor force 1000, that was a while ago hahaha. 6 pieces, 8-10-12-14-16-22. I think it’s a great deal, because a 4 piece delite is as much as a 4 piece bubinga elite. The only thing I’m hesitant about is that it’s about 4 years old, and doesn’t have the tunesafe feature, which is a huge selling point imo. Is it possible to install the tunesafe by myself?

  50. [..YouTube..] @ShittyMcPoopyBalls I’ll say this, mine’s older than that, and the lack of tunesafe has never been an issue. The current version of Tunesafe is internal and I’m not sure if you could order the parts… even if you could though it would be a massive undertaking to do it up.

I really think regardless of your tunesafe, you’ll be STOKED on this kit. It’s the same diameters as my Delite 😉

  53. [..YouTube..] @aaronedgardrum Hmm, I guess lack of tunesafe is fine, my Bubinga elite’s have nothing like that, and they rarely go out of tune, if I ever find my self going out of tune frequently, I’ll just invest in tightscrews. Do you have any videos of you playing the Delite’s?

  56. [..YouTube..] @ShittyMcPoopyBalls I’m tellin’ ya man, you’re gonna FREAK on this kit 😀

I don’t currently have any videos of me playing the delites, but they’re going to be the kit for my “smaller” kit videos like I had on the vintage kit with the boomyblast n’ such. That won’t be for a little while yet though. I do have a Delite Snare video coming up in a day or three

    Nice playing btw

  83. aaronedgardrum says:

The lower you tune especially, you need some form of muffling. My fav is moongel for that. Check out this video for snare tuning : youtube (dot) com /watch?v=quC9qRAPw-0
