I didn’t care for the steel snare in your snare drum video demo’s. But I
think it sounds great with the Hybrid!

Good foot work, and I really dig the downtuned snare sound…That fat juicy
tone that snares had in the 80s for arena rock…awesome. I love snare
tones like that…I try to make my snare sound as 80s as possible…perhaps
    its just a phase!

how do you mix your drums to sound so good?

  1. [..YouTube..] @cahslundglass That’s a good call! There was a blast or two in the tracking for this, but I had to cut some stuff so it didn’t end up stupid long. Maybe in one of the upcoming vids!

  2. [..YouTube..] @HugoRibeiroDotCom Thanks dude! Yeah man, I LOVE my SQ2’s 😀

@HugoRibeiroDotCom Thanks dude! Yeah man, I LOVE my SQ2’s 😀

  3. [..YouTube..] @TheJoeLaw haha it’s set up for tons of different options so I don’t have to keep changing or adding stuff for different ideas. I’m sure I could make that happen though! Most of my videos are lessons and whatever, teaching people how to play something where you need a 13 piece kit with a ton of cymbals probably isn’t the best idea since 99.9% of people don’t play a kit like that 😛

Maybe I’ll do a video where I just play though

  4. [..YouTube..] @JoshMillerDrum Thanks dude!

  5. [..YouTube..] @Rougarou13 Not so much Pantera, but Meshuggah, hell yeah! I used to love Pantera in high school though 😀

  49. [..YouTube..] Do it!! You totally won’t regret it, plus you’ll pretty much never have to replace it 😛

  50. [..YouTube..] is that snare a birch snare?

  51. [..YouTube..] No sir, it’s steel. 🙂

  52. [..YouTube..] Do you have ANY “normal” cymbals?

  53. [..YouTube..] haha! Well I’m a full Hammerax endorser, so I do have some of what they would consider “normal”… but they’re still not really that normal lmao.

I’m going to the factory in two weeks for a tour, some videos and to raid their prototype vault. I actually plan on grabbing a more traditional set of cymbals while I’m down there. Some of the stuff I’ve been doing lately, as much as it’s not necessarily “my” sound, requires it. 🙂

  54. [..YouTube..] have you tried out the Evans Strata 1000? I had to pick one up after Dave McKeague posted a video with it, and I’ve fallen in love. I got the staccato version on my birch snare, ridiculous pop.

  55. [..YouTube..] Oh man, I haven’t tried that one! I’m gonna have to 😀

  56. [..YouTube..] let me know how it goes! it might not be for everyone, just because it’s a thinner head, but I would recommend the snare side Orchestral 300 for everyone.

  58. [..YouTube..] it’s a good deal darker, has a LOT more body to it. I have the staccato version with the perimeter flap, and I think it’s a little too dry. If I was going to make a suggestion, I would say put it on the 14×6 Delite. I think the slightly thinner shell would do the head wonders.

  63. [..YouTube..] haha no. I’ve just never liked things that are normal. Strangeness especially in music is what gets me going. Since I play music full time for a living, I can afford to have my kit as strange as I want for whatever reason I feel like heh 😛 Most of the time I play something WAY different and smaller than this.

    • aaronedgardrum
    • November 2, 2012

You certainly can, but because of the woven fibres I’d honestly be concerned about the bearing edge. For me, it’ll only ever go on metal drums. 🙂

What kind of cymbals are those? I’ve never seen anything like them.
