Have Some Fun At My Expense! : Aaron Edgar’s Hair Fail… So, Here’s a 37″ Ride Cymbal!

This video is utterly pointless! My hair looked ridiculous so I figured I’d play some big cymbals for a bit for all you drummers out on YouTube!

The cymbal in question is a Hammerax 37×25 Atom Oval Crash and the hihats are 16″ Hammerax Indigo FlyHats. The snare drum is a 12×7 Sonor Designer Maple Light and the bass drum is a 22×17 Sonor Delite.

Yup, that was kinda silly. I’m sorry! 😉

    are you sponsored by hammerax?

  19. @eliruben123 Sure am!

  20. @aaronedgardrum How did you get the sponsor may I ask? Do you play with a well known band?

  21. @Oli4drums Well I’m not going to answer specifics about that. I will say that I have played and toured with a number of signed/higher profile acts. I’ve been playing professionally for over a decade (100% of my income is from music), I teach a lot of students although I cut that back a little while ago. I’m decent at what I do and I genuinely/obsessively love the instruments I play 😛

  22. That is easily one of the 3 best sounding snares i’ve ever heard, ever. That ride cymbal is awesome as well. Ugh, i just wish i had that snare!!!!!

  23. @ConnerDrummer It’s actually right in the middle! The cymbal just isn’t round 😛

  24. @Rockband2stream hah thanks! It’s a one of a kind 12×7 Sonor Designer Maple Light! The closest thing to it now is a maple medium SQ2 😀

  38. I would love to see a video where you just kinda display all the drums and cymbals that you have. I just feel like in every video you have a new cymbal set up or snare.

  39. Aaron, quick question. Theres a sonor s class in my area that Im thinking of buying, but Im just wondering, how is it comparable to Pearl, series wise, like is it the same kind of quality as a masters, or an export etc. Cheers

  40. @Oli4drums ‘Sponsor’ – lol!

  43. @milesmetkodrums27 That video would be an hour long, there’s almost a hundred drums over here and just as many cymbals. I’ve thought about doing something like that. I might break it up as a video showing each type of kit, a bunch of videos on my snares, cymbals etc.

  44. @Oli4drums Nobody is perfect. The use of the incorrect term reflects on your level of awareness, or lack thereof. If you knew the correct term, why would you not have used it in the first place, you silly twit. Yes, that was rhetorical.

  45. @TheAxeMutant Yes, I made a mistake, I only recently learnt the difference, actually, and there is no need to laugh at some one for using the wrong word. I don’t know why I typed ‘sponsor’ instead of endorsement, to be honest.

  47. @Blastrebation That’s a German maple kit that was discontinued in 2007. Fantastic kits! In my opinion it would be much nicer than a masters kit. It definitely qualified in their higher end lines at the time. You for sure won’t be disappointed with it !

  48. @aaronedgardrum I see. Hmm, very interesting. The other thing is what is a fair price to pay, the guys charging 750 euro?

  49. @Blastrebation Hm I’m not entirely sure on their resale. Compare it to what you can find a used delite for. It should be at least 20% under what a comparable delite would sell for

  50. @Oli4drums @TheAxeMutant : Just figured I’d throw it out there, even I’ve misused the wording of endorsements before… And I have nine of them. Everybody makes mistakes sometimes! Hell, in about half of my videos I’ve misused it in the “subscribe” credits at the end without thinking.

  241. I realize sound is subjective — and I must be some kind of inflexibly staunch traditionalist — but that ride cymbal sounds like a big piece of sheet metal. It’s doing it’s job rhythmically, in that it’s something to hit, but that’s a testament to your playing … not the cymbal itself. As far as the sound goes, I like cymbals that ring. Apologies if this $0.02 is too contrarian. Thanks for the demo, though!

  339. @wedel219 Hey man, that’s totally cool! Stuff like this DEFINITELY isn’t for everybody. In fact this cymbal really does ring for ever, I have it heavily muted though so I can get enough stick definition to even kind of use it like a ride. (there’s a big carpet sample instead of a bottom cymbal felt). This thing is actually a massive crash. From which it does an incredible job! But hey, if we all liked the same stuff, we’d all sound the same and that’d be totally boring. 🙂
