How To Count/Feel Quintuplets AND Quintuplet Double Bass Grooving!

http://www.AaronEdgarDrum.com/pdf/quintuplets.pdf * FREE .pdf download

In this lesson we discuss a very important counting method for quintuplets (Groups of five notes per quarter, pentuplets, quints). We go over how I teach feeling them and a few highly effective practice drills.

The practice pad is an HQ on top of a 14×6 Sonor SQ2 Maple Medium in Bubinga. Vater Virgil’s Assault drumsticks.

The drumset is a Sonor SQ2 Beech Vintage with three SQ2 Birch Thin snares.

All the cymbals are Hammerax.

I exclusively play Sonor drums, Hammerax cymbals and hybrids, Vater drumsticks, Evans drumheads, Puresound snare wires, Kelly SHU, Power Wrist Builders, Protection Racket and BillDidIt Drop Clutches.

Any questions feel free to comment or email me at a.edgardrum@gmail.com

  396. [..YouTube..] For counting quintuplets, I prefer “U-NI-VER-SI-TY”. The Indian method is excellent as well, especially for septuplets.

  397. [..YouTube..] Whatever rolls off your tongue easiest! It’s not meant to be a tongue twister, awesome man! It was either earlier in the comments here or on one of the forums I posted this on that there was a long (and hilarious) discussion on different five syllable words/phrases you could use haha

  398. [..YouTube..] I had watched Benny’s DVD too. It’s great DVD.
To me,for counting 5 poly-meter use (university) is good.
But also use university as Quintuplets, i felt that It’s not FIT too much with the quarter note plus. Using aaron’s indian method is kind of works. XD

  401. [..YouTube..] Septuplets definitely, there’s a video on it if you look through my uploads 🙂 As for triplets, I’m sure there IS a counting for it, but I never learned it, I learned these countings just for 5 and 7 since I at the time already had the more basic ones down without

  402. [..YouTube..] Thanks, I’ll definitely search for it. I use the standard tri-pa-let but an Indian count would probably be way cooler. Thanks for the great videos, i’ll be showing them to all of my students. Starting with the vortex cannon.
