The left hand lead FLAMMED seven stroke roll! When doing a seven stroke roll applied as sixteenth note triplets it’s going to take three eighth notes for it’s full duration. The “six” is two and the eighth note that makes up the seventh stroke. What we’re doing in this video is phrasing three of them in a row. One starting on beat one, then the “and” of two and finally beat four with your seventh stroke being beat one of the following bar.
Once we have the main phrase down, we’ll take it apart and focus on one, two and finally all three of the flammed seven stroke rolls in context.
**Transcriptions in context of the groove exist in the .PDF … So download it! 🙂
This time we have three different embellishments to deal with beyond just on the snare drum, some toms action and some groove embellishment variations. Have fun!
Slam this thing all around the kit, make up your own phrasings for it and post me a video response! Comment here if you dig it! 🙂
Until next time, keep hittin’ things!
